Steel Stamping

What is Steel Stamping?
Stamping or also know as pressing is a process of placing coil or flat sheet metal into a stamping press to be formed by a die, the surface of the die will form the raw stock into the desired form and it does this by striking the material. The stamping press can exert tons of pressure in a single strike, and as the press works the material is fed into the area where the stamping die is fastened to the press bed.
Steel is the most common type of material used for stamping. Some of the materials available are,
- low carbon approximately 0.05–0.15% carbon AISI-SAE 1005-1010
- mild steel approximately 0.16–0.29% carbon AISI-SAE 1012-1030
- high carbon approximately 0.6–0.99% carbon AISI-SAE 1031-1095
- chromium-molybdenum 4000 series, 4130, 4340, 4340
- high strength low alloy900 series steels
- spring steel approximately 0.6–0.99% carbon AISI-SAE 1031-1095
- high temperature A-286, Alloy 263, Alloy 800, Alloy-XInconel 625, Inconal 718, Inconel X750

Low carbons steel is by far the most common steel used due to its low cost, availability, and ease for forming, bending, piercing and welding. Steel is available in sheet, coil, bar, strip and pre cut blanks.
Each of the types of steel have specific properties that make them the right material to use for your parts. We have the experience to help you decide the material that will be the best for your projects.
